Organizations ranging from England’s National Health Service to America’s National Institutes of Health recommend the “ABCD” approach to fighting malaria. This approach begins with general malaria risk “awareness” and the adoption of essential mosquito “bite prevention” measures that may include applying insect repellant and using protective netting. The “C” of the “ABCD” approach stands for “checking” with medical professional regarding malaria prevention tablets, ensuring that each individual has the right medication for them and takes the proper medication according to physician recommendations. Finally, it is important to seek immediate “diagnosis” if and when symptoms of malaria arise, even if these symptoms appear up to a year after returning from an area of high malaria risk.

Characteristics of Skilled Nursing Care
Registered nurse Canice Chukwuocha graduated magna cum laude from Texas Southern University before earning his MD from the Ross University School of Medicine. After completing his medical degree, Canice Chukwuocha worked as a registered nurse, providing skilled nursing care at facilities across Houston and Chicago.
Skilled nursing care is recommended for individuals with serious healthcare issues that require ongoing medical treatment and support from an interdisciplinary team. This intensive type of care may be provided on a temporary or long-term basis. For example, individuals recovering from an acute cardiac condition or a severe injury may require monitoring and care from registered nurses, physical therapists, or occupational therapists during their convalescence.
Seniors or individuals who are under treatment protocols that mandate a trained medical professional, such as ventilators or feeding tubes, can also benefit from skilled nursing care. Most skilled nursing facilities also assist residents with daily living and schedule activities that promote social interaction and exercise.
